Survival School Expedition 2005

Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Island

As well as going to the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara Desert, we are venturing into another true wilderness.

Cape Breton Island is on the Northern Peninsula of Nova Scotia on the East Coast of Canada.

On 29th September 2005 Survival School will be going on another Expedition. This time we are heading West to the land of bears and wolves. Our destination is Nova Scotia on Canada's East Coast. This is what Jonny Crockett would call a 'multi-memory-card' trip as the terrain is outstandingly beautiful and needs to be photographed at every available opportunity. We will be returning on 7th October 2005.

The Nova Scotia Expedition will last for 10 days. The itinerary is as follows:

DAY 1: (29/09/05) Depart Gatwick to Halifax Nova Scotia.
DAY 2: (30/09/05) Arrive in Halifax. We will then pick up the vehicles and drive North to our first camp.
DAY 3: (01/10/05) We drive to Petit Etan where after a short horse riding lesson we will move on horseback East into the wilderness of Cape Breton. This is where it all gets interesting. The horses will leave us to fend for ourselves until we meet up with the vehicles on day 9.

DAY 4 - 8: (02/10/05 - 05/10/05) We will be totally on our own with only the sound of the wolves, squirrels and the occasional moose for company. We will build our own shelters, maintain our own fires, forage our own food, purify our own water, fish and snare for our meals and cross a few rivers. We will be navigating our own way around the wilderness so there is plenty of map and compass work to be done.

DAY 10: (07/10/05) The flight arrives back at Gatwick on the morning of the 10th day.

The cost of the Nova Scotia Expedition is £795 per person. This does not include flights. Return flights cost around £288 per person.
