Canoeing and Wildlife Spotting Expedition to the Temagami lakes in Ontario, Canada. (4 places left.)

In October 2025, Survival School will be going on another Expedition. This time we're off to Temagami in Canada on a Canoeing, Bushcraft  and Wildlife Spotting Expedition.  The dates are confirmed as 4th - 11th October, in time for the magnificent autumn colours from the birch, poplar, maple and conifers.  We will be on the look out for bear, moose, otters, wolves, lynx, deer, beaver, racoon, eagles and so much more .  This is a wildlife spotter's paradise and you'll see so much more from your canoe than just sitting at the campsites.  True exploring gives you a better experience.

  • This is a trip of a life time. If you are doing anything else- cancel it!
  • The airline reserves the right to change its flight schedules so early flexibility may be required.
  • The Expedition will last for 8 days.
  • (All photographs on this page are displayed with kind permission of our hosts in Canada.)

You will need to book your own flights and there is only one transfer from the airport to the canoes.

Costs:
The total cost for the trip is £995 + flights, but you can also pay a deposit of £395 followed by a balance of £600, which is payable by 4th August.
If you'd like to pay by instalments, please contact us.  It's easily arranged.

Saturday October 4th

Travel from London Heathrow to Toronto.  There we will be met by our transfer to Temagami.  We will be stopping off at the food store to buy our provisions.  The first night is spent in our host's accommodation (please be prepared to share a room) ready for a good night’s sleep. You have to arrange your own flight element for this trip as some people prefer to stay for longer whilst visiting Canada.

Sunday October 5th

After breakfast we are taken by our friends who provide us with the canoes and take us all to the drop off point, which is roughly a three-hour drive through the wilderness.

Once we have said goodbye to our friends it’s time to fit the boats out and get onto the lake and river system.

Although the Canada is world famous for its white water grade five rapids this waterway has no rapids or white water on it, so there is no previous experience needed.

We are looking at only traveling 20 kilometres a day before we find our campsites. We will stay at designated campsites due to federal law but rest easy these are remote sites and just have a toilet and a picnic bench and a fire pit as standard.
Daylight runs out around six in the evening and as we are five hours behind the UK time it’s normally an early night for most people.

Monday October 6th

After breakfast and a briefing of the day ahead we head off to through the lakes to our next site.

Tuesday October 7th

We follow the gently flowing river towards the evening’s campsite and if we are quiet enough there is sometimes the opportunity to spot eagles, moose, beaver and chipmunks to name but a few.  Wolves?  Fingers crossed.

Wednesday October 8th

A gentle day's paddle as we head south and east.

Thursday October 9th

More opportunities for the eagle-eyed to spot a wide range of wildlife.

Friday October 10th

After breakfast it is a short paddle for the morning and finally meet our friends at the extraction point to take us back to our accommodation.

Saturday October 11th

Head back for a late flight to the UK or may be arrange a Sunday flight for yourself.
